Markit: Russia’s Manufacturing PMI rises to 50.6 in March

MOSCOW, Apr 2 (PRIME) -- Russia’s Manufacturing PMI (Purchasing Managers' Index) grew to 50.6 points in March from 50.2 points in February, researcher Markit said in a statement on Monday.

The index was above the 50 no-change mark, which signified an overall expansion.

“The latest PMI figure signaled a marginal manufacturing expansion that was the second-weakest since June 2017. Meanwhile, the first quarterly average for 2018 (51.0) was the weakest since the third quarter of 2016,” Markit said.

Production levels continued to grow in March despite the growth rate being at a five-month low. Some producers attributed the increase to continued improvement of client demand.

“In line with weaker production growth, new orders received by manufacturing firms rose at a softer pace. Moreover, the rate of increase was the slowest in the current 20-month sequence of expansion,” the statement read.
